ACROSS THE DARIEN
After the loss of German Shepherd Moxie and Greg’s life-threatening accident, the GoRUFFLY pack welcomes puppy Whimsy, trains her to ride on a motorcycle, and then journeys south through the U.S., Mexico, and Central America to trek across the perilous Darien Gap wilderness.
Although our hearts still grieve the recent passing of our beloved German shepherd, Moxie, we welcome a beautiful, rambunctious new puppy into our pack.
White Swiss shepherd, Whimsy, is just three months old when we set out from a temporary base in the foothills of Northern California.
Whimsy is learning and going through all the growing pains of being a puppy as we ride south through Mexico and Central America.
Meanwhile, our new Triumph Tiger 900 motorcycles – Tuskarossa and Tenderfoot – are enormously capable machines, which allows us to tackle ever more difficult off-road, tracks, and goat trails!
We face one challenge after another as we make our way south to where the Pan-American Highway ends in Panama. There we ship the motorcycles to Colombia and trek across the perilous Darien Gap jungle.
It’s 100km of wilderness, mountains, and swamps where we encounter desperate migrants who tackle this grueling route to discover a better future.
Across the Darien is a daring adventure to train up a puppy while traveling by motorcycle and then trek across the dreaded jungle at the end of the Pan-American Highway!
