GEN2 K9 Moto Cockpit features an aluminum baseplate that bolts to the Cockpit’s steel frame.
The baseplate is:
- Replaceable
- Interchangeable
- Retrofittable
- Upgradeable
In most cases, this means that you can reuse the original GEN2 baseplate whenever you add a new motorcycle, ebike, bicycle, moped, snowmobile, or other vehicle to your stable.
In other cases, it might be necessary or preferable to replace the original baseplate. This might be the case if your original baseplate includes custom modifications such as cutaways that conflict with or complicate the retrofitting for a new bike.
The GEN2 Cockpit Baseplate Replacement provides an original, unmodified plate that you can customize for whatever mounting setup you want.
Drill the necessary bolt holes and/or cut away sections of baseplate as desired.
Then install the baseplate to your motorcycle and, lastly, bolt your Cockpit to the baseplate at the original mounting locations.
NOTE: If your new motorcycle requires more complex metalwork, including custom brackets or intricate cutaways, consider our GEN2 Mounting Replacement where we customize the baseplate and build out the necessary hardware for you.

Does the Baseplate Replacement come ready to mount to my motorcycle?
No. The Baseplate Replacement is an unmodified aluminum baseplate that is preconfigured to install to your GEN2 K9 Moto Cockpit frame in place of the original baseplate. It does not include motorcycle-specific bolt holes or mounting hardware.
Do I have to buy the Baseplate Replacement with my Cockpit or does it come with one?
No. Your new K9 Moto Cockpit always includes a baseplate. If your Cockpit model includes Custom Mounting, then your baseplate will arrive preconfigured with specific bolt holes and/or mounting hardware to install directly to your motorcycle.
What do I need to do to setup my Baseplate Replacement to install to my motorcycle?
The specific modifications you will need to perform to your Baseplate Replacement depend on your specific motorcycle and accessories.
If you are installing to a motorcycle luggage rack, then you will drill the corresponding bolt or U-bolt holes. If the luggage rack is lower than the passenger seat, then you will need to buy or fabricate spacers to raise your Cockpit as necessary.
If you are installing to a motorcycle without a luggage rack โ like a cruiser-style bike โ then you will need to affix your Cockpit to weight-bearing features on the motorcycle. For example, we routinely mount Cockpits to many cruiser makes and models by fabricating steel brackets that secure to the existing bolts along the sides of the rear wheel hub or fender.
