SEASON 5
OVER THE ANDES
After crossing the perilous Darien Gap jungle by foot, the GoRUFFLY travel pack rides south from Colombia to reach the bottom tip of South America. Along the way they trek over the towering Andes in Peru, ride deep into the blazing, Brazilian Amazon, and then face the biggest obstacle of all at the Bolivian border.
After trekking through the perilous Darien Gap and arriving safely in Colombia, we continue south to reach the bottom tip of South America.
But first, we tackle several big challenges along the way.
Riding through Colombia and Ecuador, we encounter closed borders, massive rainstorms, and landslides.
In Peru, we tackle an 8-day trek over the Andes, facing freezing temperatures and climbing passes over 5,000 meters.
Then we depart from the customary overland route to journey into the wilds of the Brazilian Amazon. There we ride through a series of uncontrolled wildfires to reach the end of the Trans-Amazon Highway.
Finally, we reach the Bolivia border where we face perhaps the most daunting challenge yet. Bolivian immigration is not obliged to let Greg into their country.
It’s a border crossing that takes five days, four immigration offices, three trips back and forth across the border, and over 2,000 road miles just to get one tourist visa!
