SEASON 1
TO THE ARCTIC
A plan is hatched for a crazy, daring journey to ride around the world by motorcycle with a big dog – and while managing RUFFLY ethical outdoor dog gear. The gang – Jess, Greg, and German Shepherd Moxie – set off from Lake Atitlan, Guatemala, overcome a series of breakdowns, and travel through challenging terrain to reach the Arctic Ocean.
In the season 1 finale of GoRUFFLY Around the World, Jess and her K9 copilot, Moxie, travel the Dempster Highway to reach the Arctic Ocean at Tuktoyaktuk.
On 5 March 2022, we set out from Panajachel, Guatemala – which had been our adopted home for the past six years.
Our first goal of GoRUFFLY Around the World is to reach the Arctic Ocean so that Moxie can dip her paws in the water.
Along the way, we complete an Iron Tail Ride, which means traveling at least 1,000 miles in less 24 hours with a dog on the motorcycle.
After suffering persistant and expensive breakdowns, we retire Jess’s motorcycle Moxie Thumper, which was a 2013 BMW G650GS, and we replace it with a newer model named Luna Laguna.
After off-road rider training in California, we travel north into Canada. Along the way, we tackle a series of challenging off-road routes to build Jess’s skill sets and confidence.
After reaching Alaska, we enter the Yukon Terrority and travel the Dempster Highway’s 800+ kms of gravel, dirt, mud, rain, and fierce winds to reach the Arctic Ocean.
To the Arctic is a rip-roaring, tail-wagging adventure filled with triumphs and mishaps. So, join us as we launch this great K9 world adventure!
