A boss I had once made a strange confession.
“You can’t imagine how many life decisions I’ve made after asking myself what I would do if the zombie apocalypse happens.”
He was a good guy and we had an easy way, so I replied, “Why do you think we have a machete propped beside our fireplace?”
Some years later, that silly exchange rose in my memory like the undead.
Moxie and I were taking our evening walk and, like most days, we made a stop at the corner grocery. I walked out carrying my cheese and produce in a new tote, which I bought like a penance for forgetting to bring one from home.
Once home, I emptied the new tote and then buried it beneath the sink along with the dozens of other plastic bags and totes that would never again see the light of day.
By coincidence, I glanced across the room and noticed the trusty old machete propped against the fireplace.
‘Is it really possible,’ the thought struck me suddenly, ‘that I’m better prepared for the zombie apocalypse than for a daily stop at the grocery with Moxie?’
Well, the evidence was undeniable – a bulging horde of plastic bags and totes under the sink vs a machete with a honed blade beside the fireplace.
That was the moment we decided to create the lightweight grocery tote that now hangs in a small stuff sack from Moxie’s leash.
Equipping your own leash with a Stow And Go Tote means you’re always ready for a stop at the grocery – and you won’t create your own demon horde of plastic bags that pour out of the pantry.
And, as my former boss would agree, having a dependable tote bag on hand is an important part of any good zombie apocalypse preparedness strategy.
