My under-sink drawer is a wasteland of once-used cosmetics.
It’s what happens when genuinely good intentions to make myself up square off against all the other things I’d rather be doing.
My jewelry stash is orders of magnitude smaller but equally neglected, leaving my neck bare, my ring finger ringless, and my pierced lobes forever ago mended closed. I’m not an extremist in any other way but an extreme inability to bother with makeup or jewelry.
Except there’s one thing I wear religiously around my wrist.
It’s a bracelet the same way Moxie’s collar is a necklace. It’s more than that and beyond a decoration. Sliding on my Knotted Wristband is like a daily affirmation to try to live extraordinary with her and wearing it is a reminder to make the right choices that help make it happen.
I suppose it’s no more sensible or silly than repeating power phrases in the mirror only I’ve always squeezed more juice from actions than words.
And it’s no small bonus that it lets Moxie and me match each other.
