We meet ADV riders in the Mojave Desert for off-road motorcycling with a German shepherd in her dog motorcycle carrier at Revzilla’s Get On! ADV Fest hosted by RawHyde Adventures.
Then to Los Angeles to visit popular LA biker hangouts – Bike Shed Moto, Deus Ex Machina, Neptune’s Net, and Rock Store. A visit to BMW Motorcycles of Ventura County delivers bad news about an expensive motorcycle repair.
★ A Note from Jess ★
I faced my boogieman.
When we bought our bikes in 2013, I was a brand-new rider and so was completely intimidated by motorcycle hangouts. And in LA, there are a bunch of them.
I was mainly worried about the parking at those hot spots since I saw how closely everyone parks. I had it in my head that I was going to somehow park poorly causing a domino effect of Harley’s, Triumphs and BMWs all down the line.
I got so caught up in this nightmare scenario that I didn’t ride my bike to any of the cool biker hangouts in the LA area back then.
Fast forward 9 years, I’m back in LA, with the same bike but with 10s of thousands of miles under my belt, crossing international borders, on-road and off-road and with a German Shepherd on the back to boot!
Now it was time to do it right. We checked out Bike Shed Moto and had an awesome evening checking out their new facility and having a wonderful meal. The next day we went for breakfast at Deus Ex Machina and saw everyone getting ready for their morning ride. Then over on the PCH to Neptune’s Net (which was unfortunately not pet friendly). And then up into the canyons to the famous Rock Store!
I didn’t freak out about the parking, didn’t cause a bunch of bikes to go down and wasn’t all worked up. I did get to share all about our adventures and fundraiser to those that stopped by to say hi to Moxie. What a difference a mindset can make!
