Itโs been that way since the very first prototype Cockpit took our shepherd, Moxie, on her inaugural ride.
GEN2 continues the Cockpitโs tradition by improving on the dependable craftsmanship, the classic lines, and the plush upholstery finish.
It also adds future-proofing to create a timeless heirloom product so that the appearance and mounting can be updated for whatever comes next in your story:
- Whichever new motorcycle, ebike, or snowmobile joins your stable
- Whatever fashion phase you get swept up in
- Even for future generations of copilots who will share these extraordinary moments with you
For these reasons, GEN2 is truly the perfection โ the quintessence โ of the Cockpit we imagined when we first began experimenting more than seven years ago.
But GEN2 has one more gift to bestow.
In addition to the fully custom buildout, your craftsman-built Cockpit is now also available with custom upholstery only or as an off-the-shelf model thatโs ready to ship right away.
This means you now have options to suit your preferences and travel plans.
Fully Custom Upholstery and Mounting Hardware
The fully Custom Upholstery + Mounting model creates your โquintessenceโ, or perfect Cockpit, to suit your preferences.
You select your upholstery to create the ideal Cockpit appearance to suit your style and motorcycle.
The upholstery preferences include:
- Outdoor vinyl and stitching color
- With or without reflective tape
- Custom branding on the upper laterals
- Cushion vinyl, stitching, top-facing pattern
We also design your mounting hardware to suit your motorcycle and accommodate your aftermarket accessories.
Itโs a simple, three-step online process that takes about 60-90 minutes of your time over a period of just 1-2 weeks.
The process begins as soon as you complete the online checkout when you receive an email with a link to your Cockpit design page at goruffly.com.
You begin by uploading your motorcycle โmugshotโ photos and we are in contact throughout the guided do-it-together process until you feel comfortable and confident, and all your questions are answered.
Once youโre happy with the mounting design, we leap right into the build and keep you posted with workshop photos throughout.
Custom Upholstery and Quality Garage Time
The Custom Upholstery + Mounting model has produced hundreds upon hundreds of satisfied Cockpit riders and happy, panting copilots.
Build times are faster than just about any local custom shop and youโre never without your bike or grounded from riding while you wait.
But, what if you want to take advantage of the Custom Upholstery but roll up your sleeves and do your own Cockpit mounting?
Now you can and even save good money for your labor.
โLaborโ โ who are we kidding? Itโs quality bike and wrench time with your dog there chewing a bone and a beer, wine, or something stronger sitting on the workbench.
When you select the Custom Upholstery model, your Cockpit frame goes straight to our craftsman upholsterer for outfitting.
Once itโs completed, a shiny new, unmodified aluminum baseplate is fitted and the completed unit is shipped out to you.
Once you receive your Cockpit, you can immediately allow your copilot to curl up and enjoy the plushly padded and upholstered frame.
Meanwhile, you can go right to work to configure the removable baseplate for mounting to your motorcycle.
MY COPILOT Off-The-Shelf Models
Maybe time is short โ you have a big ride coming up and you donโt want your copilot to miss out.
Maybe itโs getting late in the season and you donโt want to miss a moment of warm weather.
Or maybe you think we just absolutely nailed your color and style preferences and a MY COPILOT Off-The-Shelf model is just perfect for you.
We keep a limited stock of these classically knockout off-the-shelf models on-hand and ready to ship out on a momentโs notice.
Each unit features every last measure of craftsmanship, care, and detail as the custom models but theyโre fully prefabricated and ready to ship out.
As with the Custom Upholstery model, youโll be able to immediately configure the baseplate to mount to your motorcycle and get right into riding without any delay.
Configuring Your Mounting for the Custom Upholstery and Off-The-Shelf Models
The Custom Upholstery and MY COPILOT Off-The-Shelf models ship out with a new, unmodified aluminum baseplate.
The baseplate is preconfigured to mount to your Cockpit frame, which means you only need to drill out the bolt holes for installing it to your motorcycle luggage rack.
So who and which bikes are these models best suited for?
Simply put, the ideal bike-and-rider combination is:
- Motorcycles with a luggage rack that is roughly level to the passenger seat
- Riders who are handy enough with a drill and circular saw
The most common motorcycles that fit the bill are adventure and sport touring bikes, but many Harleys, Indians, and other cruisers are suitable so long as theyโre equipped with a luggage rack.
On some OEM model bikes, the luggage rack is higher than the passenger, or pillion, seat. This common layout can be accommodated simply and elegantly without any metalwork.
In cases where the luggage rack is lower than passenger seat, youโll need to purchase metal spacers or otherwise perform more sophisticated metalwork to create a platform bracket to raise the Cockpit above the luggage rack to the pillion seat level.

Your K9 Moto Cockpit is a craftsman-built, heirloom product that will carry your copilot through many thrilling rides and many extraordinary moments shared together.
Since each Cockpit is craftsman-built and upholstered, refunds and exchanges are not available.
But, whichever model you choose, there is really no risk involved because the future-proof options have you covered.
You can always update the embroidered text on the upper laterals of the frame with a simple Branding Refresh or perform a complete makeover with the Upholstery Refresh option.
And, when it comes to the mounting, weโve also got you covered.
